Lillington Connect supports CLEAN (Cubbington and Lillington Environment Action Now) who are working to keep plastics out of landfill and incinerators. They are offering to collect your plastics that cannot go in the blue bin and take them for you to the supermarket recycling points.

Hi, my name is Matt and I live on Gresham Avenue. I am passionate about keeping plastics out of landfill and incinerators. I am offering to collect from you and take to the supermarket the main household plastics that cannot go in the blue bin. (If you do this happily already but would like help with other harder to recycle items, please let me know, as this is the next stage of collecting that I’d like to move on to.)
HOW IT WORKS
1. You collect the plastics from the list below into a carrier bag (space-saving tip: start by stuffing them into a 2 litre plastic bottle (top cut off), then put bottle in the plastic bag).
2. You tape/ Sellotape/tie the bag CLOSE.
3. You text me when you have a full bag and I’ll come pick it up at a time to suit you.
4. You put a £1 donation on the outside of the bag (not required if you can’t afford it).
All donations are given to Lillington Youth Club. I’ll let you know how much is raised.
WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR WASTE
I will take it to Tesco’s, who recycle it into packaging and other products.
WHICH PLASTICS GO IN THE BAG
Fruit, vegetable and salad bag wrappings; crisp packets; cereal, rice and dry food bags; peelable film lids and frozen food bags; clingfilm; multipack film wrap; carrier bags; clothing bags; bubble wrap; magazine and newspaper wrapping; crisp packets; toilet roll and kitchen roll wrapping. All items should be dry and without food residue.
Plastics that CAN go in our blue bins are: plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays.
